About Mensh Insurance
Mensh Insurance was originally founded by Jeffrey C. Mensh in 1979 in Washington DC. As an independent insurance agent, Jeff Mensh was a pioneer in the individual disability insurance industry with particular focus and attention in the medical market. Due to lifelong relationships via his father, Dr. Maurice Mensh, Jeff was instrumental in providing physicians training at George Washington University Medical Center with discounts on individual disability insurance which later led to a groundbreaking program via the Washington DC Medical Society for doctors throughout the DC area to secure specialty protection at lower rates than previously seen. Jeffrey C. Mensh and Associates emerged as a leader in the region in group health, disability and life insurance and later as a primary agency for estate and business planning needs. In the mid 1990’s Jeff was a visionary by also creating a separate business to specialize in Long Term Care Insurance. Long Term Care Advisory Services, LLC became one of the top writing agencies for individual disability insurance by 2000 with Jeff’s son Danny coming on board in 1997. In 2001, Jeff yielded day to day operations to Danny who later moved the home of the business to Winston Salem, NC where it has remained since. With a rebranding in a new market, both Jeffrey C. Mensh and Associates and Long Term Care Advisory Services, LLC became known as Mensh Insurance. Just as it started, Mensh Insurance remains totally independent and has deep partnerships with several nationally known insurance wholesale operations to provide full support, product access, underwriting specialization, program design and administrative backup on all life, disability and long term care insurance for individuals and businesses. Mensh Insurance now has over 2000 clients throughout all states in the country and works with other agents and financial advisors in partnerships to bring insurance to individual kitchens and living rooms; medical and accounting practices; hospitals and resident programs.
About Danny Mensh
Danny Mensh was born in Washington DC and attended Landon School in Bethesda, MD for 10 years. After graduating from Landon as an ALL IAC and ALL MET golfer, Danny went to Duke University to play golf with hopes of a PGA career. Unfortunately, chronic wrist injuries derailed those dreams but led Danny to a new path. After taking sociology 163, Adult and Aging with Dr. Deborah Gold at Duke as an undergrad, Danny quickly began learning more about long term care delivery and the aging process. After several more courses, independent study via the Long Term Care Resource Center at Duke Hospital, it became a natural fit for Danny to pursue the insurance business and specifically, the newly formed Long Term Care Advisory Services, LLC with access to the top insurance contracts in the industry. Danny learned the LTC Insurance business via his father Jeff and more directly, John Haslett who was the President of the largest LTC Insurance wholesale operation in the Mid Atlantic region. After only a few years, Danny became a leading producer for Travelers, Unum, John Hancock and Met Life Long Term Care Insurance divisions and earned his CLTC Long Term Care Insurance professional designation.
Danny was married in 1997 and had three boys in the Washington DC area through 2004. After Jeff’s retirement, Danny and his family moved to Winston Salem, NC where they have remained. Since that transition, more focus has shifted back to the roots of the company in Individual Disability Insurance. National carve out and voluntary programs have been implemented for Accounting Firms and Hospitals. Danny’s particular focus and strength is working with individual physicians and professionals as they chart out their careers as well as designing and implementing voluntary insurance programs using online education and enrollment tools and support solutions. Danny has proudly worked with major medical centers such as Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Health, UNC Chapel Hill Medical Center, Harvard Medical, and others.
Outside of the insurance business, Danny spends most of his time watching and sharing his love of sports with his sons Charlie (23) a member of the sales team for the New Jersey Devils in the NHL, DJ (21) a Junior sports aficionado at LSU, and Will (19), a Freshman lacrosse player at The University of the South: Sewanee. Danny is a fitness and healthy lifestyle participant and plans to resume time on the golf course as his boys athletic careers evolve and complete.
